The Full Story

Jaume Torres (Barcelona, 1974) is an entrepreneur, strategic consultant, art dealer, and collector, recognized for his ability to build strong connections between art and economics. Descended from a long line of merchants rooted in the vibrant Sants district of Barcelona, he is the youngest of two siblings and the father of one daughter. He grew up in a city undergoing profound transformation, where the cultural effervescence of the 1992 Olympic Games coincided with his coming of age and marked the beginning of a trajectory defined by entrepreneurial drive, aesthetic sensitivity, and enduring intellectual curiosity.

His professional career combines significant achievements with periods of greater complexity, including setbacks that have played a decisive role in strengthening his character and consolidating a rigorous strategic vision. The experience gained in both growth environments and restructuring contexts has enabled him to develop a solid, analytical, cross-disciplinary approach oriented toward long-term value creation.

As a strategic consultant and art dealer, he has built an international career in which art represents both a vocation and a strategic instrument for generating cultural and economic value. For more than twenty-five years, he has led initiatives integrating creativity, investment, and global vision, with particular presence in Europe and Asia.

As a collector, he has assembled a carefully curated body of contemporary works that engage with the social and cultural transformations of our time. In his capacity as advisor and cultural producer, he collaborates with artists, institutions, corporations, and family offices, guiding them at the intersection of the art market and alternative finance. His work focuses particularly on innovative models of patronage, financial structuring, and the international positioning of cultural projects.

Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a notable capacity to anticipate market trends. He closely witnessed the arrival of the internet in Spain in 1995 through Infovía and participated in the early stages of e-commerce during the dot-com boom. He subsequently developed multiple projects in the real estate sector, exiting the market prior to its collapse. After 2008, he redirected his activity toward the study and investment in emerging markets related to cryptocurrencies, financial technologies, quantum computing, and artificial intelligence applied to the financial sector. During this period, he concurrently served for five years as Chief Executive Officer of a publishing company with leading titles, including a newspaper recognized as a market leader in its segment.

In 2012, he pioneered the launch of the first regulated Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) in Europe dedicated to American modern art. The initiative was selected in 2014 by Deloitte’s Art Finance department and subsequently divested in 2015. Since then, he has participated in the creation, capitalization, and management of several alternative investment vehicles linked to art and other alternative assets.

He currently combines his entrepreneurial and advisory activities with service as an independent board member on various corporate boards and foundations. Through these platforms, he promotes multiple cultural initiatives, reaffirming his commitment to culture as a driver of transformation and long-term value creation.
